Education in Spain is free from nursery to university and is available to all children of foreign residents. Children must attend a state school between the age of 6 to 16 and this school must be within a certain catchment area of the parents official residence.
Documentation required to register your child /children
- Childs Birth certificate or passport
- Proof of residence from town hall (empadronamiento)
- Two passports sized photographs of child
- Rental contract or Title deeds
Schools in Marbella
La Cala de Mijas has two primary and two secondary schools. El Chapparal school is becoming billigual and is a spanish school, currently children from the age upto the age of 7 are being taught in both English and Spanish. There are before and after school clubs available at very reasonable costs for working parents. English International college is situated along the N340 inbetween Elivira and Marbella. In Marbella there are numerous private spanish and international schools, a very well know one is Aloha College in Nueva Andalucia. Fuengirola has many schools also, in Las Lagunas the local primary school is now fully billigual with children having half the lessons in English and half in Spanish.
